The month of November held many games for the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association teams. Throughout the month, many players shined bright, but three players stood out the most. These three standout players, from various CCWHA teams, have been named the November 2021 CCWHA Three Stars of the Month.
Concordia University’s Grace Dodgson has been selected as the Third Star of the Month after playing in six games during November. The freshman forward put up points in five of the six games for Concordia, with five of the games played being league games. Dodgson helped the Cardinals against opponents such as No. 11 Michigan State University, No. 14 University of Michigan, and No. 13 University of Michigan-Dearborn. The Belmont, ON native tallied three goals to propel Concordia past Michigan State in a 3-0 shutout win. Dodgson gathered a total of 11 points (8g, 3a) in November, nine of those points during CCWHA games, and currently has 16 points (13g, 3a) to lead the Cardinals.
Michigan State University’s Savina Osann has nabbed the Second Star of the Month honors after earning a 3-0 record in November. Osann took on Concordia University, Aquinas College and Grand Valley State University for her three wins, and only allowed five goals in three games. The junior netminder stopped 44 of 49 shots in November. Osann is currently 4-0 for the Spartans, has stopped 97 of 107 shots faced this season and has a .907 save percentage for the Spartans.
The First Star of the Month is awarded to the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Claudia Maguire. The senior for UMD snagged 10 points (4g, 5a) in just three games for the month of November. Maguire earned star of the game honors in two of the three league games, picking up the game winning goal against Grand Valley State University, and putting up seven (3g, 4a) in the win over University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. The Ann Arbor native leads the Wolverines with 14 points (6g, 8a) in nine games this season.

The University of Michigan’s Sandrine Ponnath has earned the Third Star of the Month after playing in five games in October. The freshman goaltender went 1-4 for Michigan with opponents such as No. 2 Adrian College, Michigan State and the University of Michigan-Dearborn. The netminder stopped 217 of a total 229 shots during the tenth month for the Wolverines, picking up a .941 save percentage. This is the first time receiving this honor in her career.
October’s second star of the month goes to Michigan State’s Natalia Asimakis. The senior from MSU tallied two assist in the team’s first win of the season, against the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Asimakis put in the game-winner for the Spartans against the University of Michigan and currently has 10 points (6g, 4a) to lead Michigan State after six games.
The First Star of the Month for October is awarded to Isobel Pettem-Shand of Indiana Institute of Technology. The freshman gathered 18 points (4g, 14a) in nine games, against opponents including Penn State University, No. 9 Miami University and Grand Valley State University. The Warriors forward currently averages 2.31 points per game and leads the No. 3 team in the nation with 30 points (6g, 24a).

BURTON, MI – The Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association is ready to host the 2020 Playoffs, with this year taking place at Crystal Fieldhouse in Burton, MI from February 28- March 1. The top six teams in the league will play to become the CCWHA Playoff Champions, and to earn an auto bid to the ACHA National Tournament. This past weekend, there was one league series featuring Miami University and the University of Michigan. Two CCWHA teams took on exhibition series, with Aquinas College taking on Arizona State University as well as University of Utah, and Robert Morris University faced off with Midland University.
