For their efforts in helping their teams, the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association (CCWHA) Division-1 Players of the Month for December, 2015 are: Ohio State forward Melinda Vercollone (Forward of the Month), Grand Valley State freshman defense Sally Hoerr (Defenseman of the Month) and Davenport freshman goaltender Karley Ferguson (Goalie of the Month).

Melinda Vercollone, F

Lincoln, MA


Vercollone helped Ohio State University to a win and a tie against Robert Morris, 6-3 and 5-5. In the 6-3 loss, Vercollone grabbed two points (2g), while in the 5-5 tie the forward tallied four points (1g,3a). Vercollone has registered nine points (5g,4a) during the first half of the season for the Buckeyes.


Sally Hoerr, Fr., D

Colchester, VT


Hoerr has helped the Lakers of Grand Valley to two sweeps in the month of December, against Midland University and against University of Michigan. During the Midland series, Hoerr helped GV to an 8-0 and 7-1 win, with an assist in each game. Against CCWHA rivals, Michigan, Hoeer tallied three assists in the 4-2 win while Grand Valley went on to a 4-3 win in the second game of the series. The freshman defenseman has tallied a total of eight points (8a) during the first half of the season.


Karley Ferguson, Fr., G

Watford, Ont.


Ferguson helped Davenport University to a 2-1-1 record during December, recording wins against Robert Morris (2-1) and Lake Superior State (12-0), a loss to Michigan State (2-1) and a tie against Robert Morris (1-1) as well. Ferguson faced 109 shots on goal, making 105 saves in four games. Over the first half of the season Ferguson has gone 3-7-1 picking up a shutout, a 2.42 goals against average and averaging a .931 save percentage for the Panthers.
