GRAND VALLEY/OHIO STATE – The 8-6-3 Lakers play at Ohio State home ice for both team’s first games of 2017. The Buckeyes are 0-7-1 (0-6, CCWHA) while Grand Valley is 2-5-1 in CCWHA play. Game times are set for 8pm on Saturday, Jan. 14 and 2pm on Sunday, Jan. 15.


Grand Valley is led by senior Kendra Myers with 21 points (10g, 11a). Megyn Beebe sits at 20 points (13g, 7a) while Taylor Lampar has recorded 10 points (5g, 5a).

Taylor Watson has seen time in net for seven games with a 2-3-2 record. Watson averages 2.84 goals against per game with a .905 save percentage. Lauren Allen has earned a 5-3-1 record after the first half of the season while averaging 1.82 goals against. Allen also has a single shutout and a .941 save percentage. Morgan Lang has been between the pipes for one game, with one win. Lang allowed one goal and recorded a .952 save percentage.

In GV’s last game, they split with the Eagles of Robert Morris. In the 5-4 loss, Watson was in net making 16 of 21 saves. Beebe (1g, 1a) Myers (1g), Allison Stapleton (1g) and Alex Brinkman (1g) tallied the goals. In the 2-1 win over RMU, Allison Lowe (1g) and Briana Weglarz (1g) put the Lakers on the board. Allen was in net for the win, with 27 saves on 28 shots on net.


Ohio State is set to host their first games of 2017 after tallying nine goals for and allowing 38 goals against in 2016. Jessica McCoy (2g, 1a), Emile Dunlap (2g, 1a) and Melinda Vercollone (1g, 2a) each have three points to lead the Buckeyes.

Emily Ciborek has seen time in net for four games with a 0-3-1 record. Ciborek has a .913 save percentage while allowing 4.07 goals against per game. Selena Hunter has a 0-4-0 record while allowing 4.54 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.

In their last games of 2016,OSU was swept by Robert Morris, 4-1 and 4-0. Hunter was in net for the first game, making 25 saves on 29 shots, Courtney Trudeau with the lone goal for the Buckeyes. Ciborek got the nod in the second game making 59 saves on 63 shots on goal.


In 2015-16, Grand Valley grabbed both wins against Ohio State, 8-1 and 3-0. In the 8-1 win, Lampar tallied two goals while assists came from Corey Robison (2a), Allison Lowe (1a), and Brinkman (1a). Morgan Lang was in net for GV making nine saves on 10 shots, while Ciborek stopped 55 of 63 shots faced. McCoy tallied OSU’s single goal in the loss. Ciborek was in net again on day two during the 3-0 loss, stopping 53 shots on 56 shots faced.  Watson was at the other end of the ice stopping all nine shots faced while Lowe grabbed a single goal in the win.
